We have chairs to stand on!

Despite having a cat, we seem to have rodents.
Yehia told me a few days ago that there were "tree rats" in the monsteria in our couryard. I, of course, did not believe him. Why would I?
Until The Cat ran through our very civilised and grownup Sunday family lunch with a giant mouse in its mouth. Thank goodness these particular family members aren't too freaked out by a toothless cat holding a mouse. Albeit large (the mouse). Thank goodness said family members can assist the two of us to remove said mouse.
Just now I looked out the window and saw with my very eyes a rodent strolling up the monsteria. I think it's another large mouse.
How does one get rid of large mice living in a giant monsteria in the garden? Should one make friends and live in peace and harmony with rodents?

There seems to be a bit of that going around... My Saturday blog post recounts the same sort of story (except the rat was INSIDE MY KITCHEN!!)

Get a cat with teeth. And claws while you're at it.

Try calling a summit and reasoning with them first. That way you can say you tried when you have to bring out the shotguns.

As the first mouse was not actually dispatched from this mortal coil, the "second" mouse you saw may have actually the first, recovered from the trauma of being in The Cat's mouth, then being captured by a giant human been...
Or it could be that the presence of the ripening monstera is attracting all the rodents in your vicinity...

Deelea - we will be crazy cat ladies together. I knew there was a reason for putting up with hair all over my black clothes!
HH - Our cat does have claws, but its fine motor skills are a bit challenged. Poor little mite (it doesn't have mites).
Sam - What if the mice look through our window and realise we don't have shotguns? What do we threaten them with when the peace talks fail? Trade embargos?
Nisrine - It was a mouse, not a rat. And not half as scary as those ones in Indonesia.
Susanna - You're welcome to come and save us - bring the troops if need be. The fruit on the monsteria continues to ripen! Eek!
